I purchased a "sample" moisturizer products from Endure Beauty System, which was advertised on my facebook page. I read the fine print and the ad was billed as "trying" a sample product and only paying for the shipping charge, which was $2.95 (I didn't realize it was in US dollars so it was $3 and change Canadian - I live in Toronto).
I had only used it for a few days, as I was away on holidays and then noticed a $148 charge on my chequing account, again in US dollars, so it was now $168 Cdn, all because I hadn't told them that I wanted to cancel and I was now therefore enrolled in their automatic shipment program. I wasn't even aware of this!! I don't recall seeing that i the fine print of the ad I saw.
This is outrageous! I phoned the customer service # that came with the shipment but no one answered all day that I called!
I went on-line and did some searching and found another 800 number and succeeded into talking to someone there who basically told me that nothing could be done.
When I said that I didn't want the autoshipment to come to me and never asked for it, she said it would be cancelled and wanted my account credited, she said it was now cancelled but the charge would stay. When I asked her why, she said that it would cover the cost of the shipment I had received.
When I told her that it was advertised as a sample and I was just evaluating it, she said she understood how I felt but that's what the terms are and if hadn't cancelled and shipped back my remainder product within 14 days, the charge would hold.
This is SO deceptive and sneaky.....especially with the way it was advertised on-line. To pay $168 for what was biled as a free "sample" (only the cost of the shipping had to be paid) is ridiculous and very non-transparent. It's extremely unfair and exasperating to a consumer to have to put up with this kind of deceptive behaviour by a conpany and then not to be able to get in touch with them at the # they provide!

Please help me get my money refunded. This charge was posted to my account on Aug. 25th.
